I have a xerox of a letter to her mother (or Sarah, her mother in law) from Phoenix, Arizona, October 12, 1936.  She ironing another woman's clothes and Mr. Coombs clothes to wash and iron.  She had received Lula's package last week but they hadn't come for it yet - they are picking cotton near Buckeye.    They had been gone for 3 weeks.  There had been a circus there last week and a parade and she had seen her first elephant.  She says "they" let us off work for 1/2 hour to see the parade.  BEginning this week I will get 35.00 a month.  I signed the papers Friday.  Six dollars a month isn't much more but itwill help us alot.  .....I am going to night school three nights a week.  Arthur Jr. is getting so big - people ask me if he goes to school...I hae to buy him size 6 clothes for him.  Sam was here a little while last night.  He has a bad cold.  Otherwise, he is all right.

He is remembered as "Uncle Frank Hunter," with the prominent handle-bar mustache, slow of speech, stooped with age, full of wisdom, and a heart big enough for his fellow man.
Myrtle Viola (Davis) Hunter died February 19, 1942, and Elias Franklin Hunter followed her in death five weeks later, March 28, 1942, a marriage of 53 years.
His obituary states that they had made their home in Heavener for the past 41 years."

That means they came to Heavener in 1901, about a year or so after their marriage.

Albert W. Barnes was a neighbor and probably a friend of Elias and family.
