From "Heavener: (LeFlore County) Oklahoma And Surrounding Communities. 1896-1996" pages421/422: "Frank Hunter was born December 28, 1866 in MIssouri. He was the eldest son of ELIAS FRANKLIN HUNTER, born in 1839 in Tennessee, and MARY ANN LONG, born in 1843 in MIssorui. His father's family was enumerated in the 1880 US Census, Lafayette Township, Scott Co., Arkansas, and he is shown as 13 years of age along with a sister SARAH L. HUNTER age 10 years and a brother, JAMES R. HUNTER, age 4.
Frank Hunter, age 22, married MYRTLE VIOLA DAVIS, age 16, December 19, 1889 in the "Choctaw" Nation. He had owned one of the first mercantile stores in Heavener and then worked for John H. Young Mercantile Co for awhile and was the custodian of the new Heavener City Hall. The Heavener Library was on the .....
Frank Hunter was a "self-taught", quite knowledgeable man for his time; subscribed to a "Greek Magazine" which he looked forward to getting and reading. A student of History, he wrote some poems which were published.
He is remembered as "Uncle Frank Hunter," with the prominent handle-bar mustache, slow of speech, stooped with age, full of wisdom, and a heart big enough for his fellow man.
Myrtle Viola (Davis) Hunter died February 19, 1942, and Elias Franklin Hunter followed her in death five weeks later, March 28, 1942, a marriage of 53 years.
His obituary states that they had made their home in Heavener for the past 41 years."
**There is a photograph of them dated ca 1915."
That means they came to Heavener in 1901, about a year or so after their marriage.
Albert W. Barnes was a neighbor and probably a friend of Elias and family.
