From Grady Daves:  Alexander was drafted into the War of 1812 on 10 November 1814 for 6 months.  Discharged at  Colberts Ferry on the Tennessee River in Texas, 15 April 1815.  (From Jim Daves-6/13/99-Colberts Ferry is in Alabama on the flow of the Tennessee River.)
              
     He owned land on Mulberry Creek in 1827.
     Had a land grant of 80 acres which Hannah (Simmons) Daves applied for and was regranted about 1855.
    (From Jim Daves 6/13/99)  Alexander applied for his bounty for 80 acres for his service 9 April 1852, Warrant #34486 - Hannah Simmons warrant was dated 25 October 1855 which listed him as Alexandra Davis and was denied.  Jim has copies of each.

Jana PENAZ [Parents] 1 died 15 Dec 1935 in Czechloslovakia. He married Marie DRDLOVOU.

Resided at Nove Ves Number 32, PP NOve Mesto, Moravia.  I think this is the original home sight.  Some of this information is from letters from Uncle Adolphus, written in Bohemian language.  There are several letters from the old family to Marie (wife of Samuel) that have been translated.  Letters are in possession of Mery Scott, compiler of this genealogy.

Letter dated Decembeer 13, 1936.  To "cousin"  Mary Daves, Sand Springs, Oklahoma.  Letter of sympathy in death of her father, Joseph Penaz, Sr.   Postmarked in Mesto  na Morave.  Recalled his own father's memories of Marie's (Mary Daves) little brother, little Pepika (Little Joe) as only a small boy just before Mary's parents sailed across the ocean.  Jan received a letter from Mary on 30 NOvember 1936.

     Mentions not hearing from American family for 2 years and they are sad.  
     Wants to know how his brother is; questions about his sister-in-law and Little Peprcek (little Joe)  This letter is written to Marie Penaz of Prague, Oklahoma.
     Letter is written near Marie's birthday month.
     Mentions 2 brothers (Penaz brothers) from Polnicky visiting who told Jan that they had heard from her.  
     Mentions 24 merics of fields on farm with ........... and 7 meric of fields at the house.  They have 2 cows and one bull which cannot have babies; one pig and 11 chickens.  Have 5 children:  John, Frank, Joe, Adolph and Mary.
     Mentions reading about "terrible catastrophy's in neighboring countries; flooding; people who drowned (no names)
    Mentions military exercises in Nove Mesto and Mezerac.  In Nove Mesto, there were 27,000 and in Mezerac, 18,000 men.  
     Mentions the Emperor was also present.

     Mentions brother-in-law Jenik Chyba didn't come because he was ill and his mother didn't want to go because she was old.  
     Mentions wife is from Polnicky; name Maria Krskovi.  Enclosed a photograph.

Marie DRDLOVOU 1 died 1947 in Czechloslovakia. She married Jana PENAZ.

Adolpha PENAZ 1 was born 27 Mar 1906. He died 1988 in Prague, Czechloslovakia.

Adolpha was the youngest of the children and a Priest who last resided in Prague, Czechloslovakia and died there.  Burried in the Penaz family plot in Nove Mestro, Czech.   I have a photograph of him.  Never married.

Admitted into Priesthood (I think) 1930 as P. Adolf Penaz.  I have a Catholic Card indicating this.
