     "Our ancestor Richard Daves, settled in Virginia.  He was number 7 on the list of those 'Belonginge unto the Friendship of London, now riding att anker in the River of Thames, bound for Vergenia, March 1636.' He was listed as Richard Daves*; Cooper.  (Barrelmaker).  Also listed on the same ship was a Suzan Daves, presumably his wife.
    Richard Daves settled in Henrico County, Virginia, which had become a Royal Colony in 1624.  The part in which Richard settled was separated in 1749, becoming Chesterfield County.  Some of his decendants continued to live in this area, some moved to Mecklenburg County (made from Lunenburg County) in 1764-65 situated on the North Carolina border.  Lastly, a William Daves sailed from Bristol, England to Virginia for New England.  (Ref. Bristol and America; Page 131)  He arrived 30 years after Richard, so kinship is doubtful.
     The decendants of Richard Daves gradually migrated to North Carolina, South Carolina (where a William Daves was granted 200 acres of land for Revolutionary War service) some settled in Mississippi, Tennessee, Oklahoma and Arkansas - gradually coast to coast of the United States."

21 December 1913:  No official record of marriage was found in Dardenelle.  

Matha Bell  died in hospital in Vinita, Oklahoma.  Buried in Woodland Cemetery, Sand Springs, Oklahoma, next to Fred.  Eastern STate Hospital.

Did needlework and much sewing.  Her sewing machine was in the possession of her daughter, Hazel Burcham White.  She was a large woman with freckles and bright red hair, tall and quiet.

James Robert BURCHAM [Parents] ¹ was born 5 Feb 1848 in Madison County, Missouri. He died 20 Oct 1940 in Havanna, Yell County, Arkansas. James married Sarah Kathryn , Kate MORGAN on 12 May 1872.

Burried in an unmarked grave.

He was a farmer and rented.  Sharecroppers.  Moved around Arkansas, living in Yell County, Pope County.  He was also an Elder in Pose County, Arkansas.

Children's birth records are from the 1900 census of Arkansas, Marion County, Hamilton Twp.  The 1900 Soundex of Arkansas and ED83, page 12

James and Kate were in a tornado and she was crippled.  

James Robert died about 1937-38 at Havanna Ark.  He was living with his son, Charles at that time.  He and his wife Sarah Cathryn Morgan Burcham are both buried in a small cemetery around Havana, Ark.  She died at her home in Havana when Wink was an infant, abut the same time or earlier than J. W. Manes.   He was a jack of all trades.  teacher, preacher (Church of Christ), carpenter, even a J.P.  He was living in Ark at this time.  His parents died within days of each other when he was 9 years old.  He then livied and grew up in SE Missouri or Missippi on his Uncle's plantation.  He has told about the blacks they owned and that he would take water to them in the fields.  I don't know this Uncle's name or the date.  I do know that he lived in Arkansas after he left his Uncle's home.  

James was a part-time minister for the Church of Christ in Havannah, Arkansas, a teacher and carpenter and a Justice-of-the-Peace.  

Kate died at home in Havannah.

There is a letter from the then current Minister of the Church of Christ in Havannah regarding James and Kate's memories.

James was 9 years old when his parents died.  He then grew up in S. E. Missouri or Missouri on his Uncle's plantation.  They owned blacks and he would water them in the fields.  He lived in Arkansas area after he left his Uncle's home.
